What the Renewal Means
Disney is backing "Coven Academy": The supernatural teen series has been renewed for a second season, according to Variety, The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline. According to Deadline, the announcement came just a little over three weeks after the premiere of the first season.
This means you can expect another season rather than facing the possibility that the series could end after its first season. The available reports do not reveal what will happen after the new season.
What Is "Coven Academy" About?
The series is set at an elite magic boarding school. It follows three teenage witches and their "dangerously charming" warlock-like classmates. The official description sums up the world in a concise formula: Power is currency, secrets are deadly and affection is a liability.
Tim Federle created the series. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the cast includes Malina Pauli Weissman, Malachi Barton and Tiffani Thiessen.
The First Three Weeks Deliver a Breakout Run
Deadline reports that the first season earned 20.3 million global viewing hours during its first three weeks. According to the report, the second season was announced on Monday.
The sources confirm the renewal but cite different distribution options: Deadline refers to Disney+/Hulu, while the other two reports speak generally of Disney. For the production, this is a renewal; the sources do not specify exactly what the streaming offering will look like in each market.

Your Verdict on the Renewal
For fans of the series, the second season is a clear yes to keeping watch: 20.3 million viewing hours in three weeks provide a measurable backdrop to the decision. At its core, the story remains the same: teenagers, magic, power struggles and relationships that seem anything but harmless at this boarding school.
