EA Sports FC 27 is currently making headlines not for its gameplay but for a curious visual glitch: female coaches reportedly appear in their underwear in the game — social media and gaming forums are already calling it the "bikini bug."

The football simulation, formerly known as "Fifa," has included not only men's football but also female coaches and players for several years now. These female characters are exactly the ones affected by the current bug — and they're generating plenty of buzz.

What is known so far about the bikini bug

According to Der Spiegel, female coach characters in the latest version of the game are displayed in underwear instead of their regular outfit variant. The exact cause of the error is not clear from the available report.

Update expected to fix the error

According to Spiegel, Electronic Arts is working on an update to fix the bug. Exactly when the patch will be released and which platforms will be served first is not clear from the report.

Female characters have been in the game for years

EA Sports FC has featured mixed squads for several game generations now — alongside men's football, female coaches and players are part of the game. The fact that these very characters are affected by the "bikini bug" makes the case particularly striking and explains why it is causing such a stir in the community right now.
