Amazon has reportedly cast the two leads of its fantasy series "Fourth Wing": Esther McGregor takes on the role of Violet Sorrengail, Emilio Sakraya plays Xaden Riorson. This is reported, among others, by Variety and Deadline in agreement. When approached by Variety, however, Amazon declined to comment — meaning an official confirmation is still pending.
Who is behind the series?
The adaptation is based on Rebecca Yarros' bestselling book series of the same name from the "Romantasy" genre. According to Deadline, the showrunner and executive producer is Meredith Averill.
For McGregor, it's a return to Amazon: In "We Were Liars" she played the role of Mirren Sinclair Sheffield, and most recently she appeared in "Babygirl." Sakraya most recently appeared in "Those About to Die" and in "Warrior."
When filming will begin and when "Fourth Wing" is set to launch on Prime Video is not yet known. Casting for the remaining roles is also still pending.
As of: October 15, 2026 — further details to follow.
