Netflix orders pilot for 'Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging' – what's known so far

TVS News AI, editorially supervised, presents Netflix orders pilot for 'Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging' – what's known so far.

Netflix has commissioned a pilot episode for "Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging," industry magazine Variety reports. A comeback of the British teen cult is getting closer – this time not on the big screen, but on the streaming subscription.

Anyone who grew up in the late 90s and early 2000s knows the chaotic teenager Georgia Nicolson and her very big coming-of-age dramas. Louise Rennison's book series of the same name, which was once adapted as a film, is now set to serve as the basis for a new streaming adaptation.

For fans, that means: hope for fresh material from the Georgia cosmos – but please don't plan a series marathon just yet. What's been ordered so far is explicitly only a pilot, not a full season.

What's officially confirmed so far

According to Variety, Netflix has ordered a pilot episode for "Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging" – known in German-speaking countries as "Frontalknutschen." The new version is set to be based on Louise Rennison's book series about teenager Georgia Nicolson.

A pilot is a first, cautious step in the TV world: a single episode is produced so the network and production team can test whether concept, tone, and cast work together. Only afterward does the decision come on whether a full season will follow.

Who's behind the project

Production is handled by the companies Fifth Season and Rise Films. Filming is set to take place in the United Kingdom – where both the source material and the original film originate.

Why the euphoria should be tempered

So far, this is explicitly only a pilot and not a fully ordered series.

So Netflix has so far only opened a door, but hasn't booked a room yet. Whether this actually becomes a Netflix series will only be decided at a later date. Anticipation is therefore allowed – a cozy series night on the couch is not yet in the cards.
