Pascal (24) from 'Hartz und herzlich': Welfare benefits gone after internship ends early.

As Focus reports, a protagonist of the reality show Hartz und herzlich has lost his welfare benefits. The reason is said to be the early end of an internship in landscaping and garden construction. For 24-year-old Pascal, this amounts to a financial fiasco, according to the magazine.

Anyone in Germany who relies on welfare benefits knows the rules: if an assigned measure – such as an internship or further training – is terminated early without a valid reason, sanctions can follow, up to and including a complete cut to benefits. What specific reasons led to the end of Pascal's internship is not revealed in the Focus report.

What consequences the loss has for Pascal

Without the monthly support, the protagonist suddenly lacks a reliable income. The show Hartz und herzlich follows people on the margins of the labor market and their attempts to regain their footing in everyday life – including the setbacks that come with it, but also small successes.

Whether Pascal finds a way out of the situation in the current episode can be seen by viewers of Hartz und herzlich.
