Members of the environmental organization Robin Wood have climbed onto the roof of the CDU federal headquarters in Berlin. They are demonstrating there against the course of the federal government.
The Konrad-Adenauer-Haus is the CDU headquarters and one of the most heavily guarded political buildings in the capital. The fact that activists have managed to reach the roof is likely to concern the security authorities beyond its symbolic effect.
What is known so far
What demands Robin Wood is bringing to the roof, how many people are involved, and how long the occupation is meant to last — no information beyond the brief report was initially available. There was also initially no information on the reaction of the CDU and the police.
What is certain is the image: activists from an environmental organization on the roof of the building named after the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic. What remains is the question of how politicians and security authorities will react in the coming hours.
