Netflix has released the first trailer for The Altruists. Anthony Boyle takes on the role of crypto entrepreneur Sam Bankman-Fried. What you know so far comes from the Hollywood Reporter – and it's enough material for a first overview.

What's The Altruists about?

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the series traces the rise and fall of Bankman-Fried's crypto exchange FTX. That makes the next Netflix project around the crypto scandal poised to launch – and the clip gives you a first taste.

Who's in it?

Alongside Anthony Boyle are Julia Garner and Hudson Williams – the latter coming fresh off Heated Rivalry, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The trailer doesn't reveal anything concrete about their respective roles yet; it's the cast itself that the Hollywood Reporter cites as the hook of its report.

Executive Producers: The Obamas

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Obamas serve as executive producers. That ties the former US presidential couple directly to the next big Netflix production.

What you don't know yet

The Hollywood Reporter's report doesn't mention a premiere date, episode count, or details on the roles of Garner and Williams. What remains: a first trailer, a prominently cast lineup – and the question of exactly how Netflix intends to tell the FTX story.
