Racehorse »Austrian Painter« must be renamed
A breeder in the US had named his racehorse »Austrian Painter« – what sounds like art is long a different cipher on the internet. As Spiegel reports, the term is used there as code for Adolf Hitler. The animal subsequently had to be renamed.
Stern and a report on the Zeit website have also picked up the case. According to them, the horse is making headlines in the US because of its name and is no longer allowed to bear it.
According to Spiegel, however, the breeder continues to provoke. Exactly what he is doing and what name the animal now carries is not disclosed in the available reports.
Update: Wednesday afternoon; further details to follow.
