Michael Mann injured: shot in the leg at a shooting range.

A shot in his own leg, a stay in hospital and a filmmaker of world renown: Michael Mann became his own weapon at a shooting range in Los Angeles. It sounds like a dramatic accident – and, according to police and media reports, that is exactly what it was.

For you as a fan of the director, the main news is his injury and the unusual location. The incident occurred at around 4 p.m. on Saturday at Range LA. According to the LAPD, as cited by Variety, Mann was hospitalized.

What Happened While Putting Away the Weapon

The accident is said to have occurred while Michael Mann was trying to put his firearm into the holster. The weapon accidentally discharged, according to Variety, citing TMZ. The sources did not provide further details about the exact circumstances.

The three available reports complement one another: Page Six identifies the location as Range LA. The Hollywood Reporter writes that the incident occurred during practice shooting at a licensed shooting range. There is no contradiction between the accounts.

Michael Mann Was Hospitalized for Treatment

One thing is certain: The 83-year-old director was hospitalized after accidentally shooting himself in the leg. The available sources confirm this unanimously. The reports do not reveal how serious the injury is or whether the 83-year-old filmmaker has since been discharged.

The report is therefore limited to the clear facts: an accidental shot, an injury to the leg, hospitalization. Further details about Mann's condition or safety at the facility still need to be confirmed.
